Amazing Batsuit Wins Guinness Record For 'Most Functional Gadgets'

Batman is as much about the gadgets as he is the suit and the intense brooding. Enter Julian Checkley, a cosplayer whose Batman Arkham-inspired suit includes 23 working gadgets. It was enough to earn Checkley a spot in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2017, for “Most functional gadgets on a cosplay suit.”
The star is undoubtedly the Bat-Flask, which the real Batman would probably fill with ghost pepper hot sauce. The suit also features an “ultrasonic anti dog device” as well as more common Bat-tools, like the grapnel gun and trademark Batarangs.

Here’s a full list:

  1. Fireball Shooter
  2. Gauntlet Video Screens x2
  3. Bat Tracking Beacon
  4. Bat Sign Projector
  5. Folding Batarang
  6. Grapnel Gun
  7. Cowl Respirator
  8. Pneumatic Tranquilliser Gun
  9. Ultrasonic Anti Dog Device
  10. Bat Shuriken x4
  11. UV Lamp
  12. Ball Bearing Grenades x2
  13. Gauntlet Flashlight
  14. Medi-kit
  15. Battery Pack
  16. Laser Designator
  17. Bat-cam
  18. Strobe Stun Gun
  19. Gas Dispenser
  20. Smoke Bombs x2
  21. The Bat Flask
  22. Concealed Laryngeal Microphone
  23. Two-way Radio

Checkley describes the process that brought his multi-functional Batsuit together, which amounts to a series of escalating dares to add more stuff. The suit itself borrows from the armored look seen in the Batman Arkham series of video games.
The latest Gamer’s Edition marks the Guinness World Records offshoot’s 10th anniversary. Along with Checkley’s Batsuit, the new book includes a chapter dedicated to Star Wars achievements and another that takes a closer look at the esports scene.
Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2017 is out on Sept. 8.
