Can you open the plane door during flight?

The police from Australia, recently announced that a passenger from the Vancouver – Brisbane flight tried to open the plane entrance door about 10 minutes before the landing of the 15 hours flight.

Now, you’ve probably been on a plane yourself, wondered at least once: “what if some psycho tries to open the door?” Well, the Hollywood movies showed us one too many times that, that is possible, but what’s the situation in the real life?

Well, the police from Australia, that recently announced that a passenger from the Vancouver – Brisbane flight tried to open the plane entrance door about 10 minutes before the landing of the 15 hours flight, failed in his intention, because he was tackled and subdued by the rest of the passengers. But even if they allowed him to keep trying to open the door — he would fail miserably, because there are no chances what so ever for a person to ever succeed in that. This is also not a first case of this nature, but the result was and always would remain the same.
Why?
This is the explanation that the pilot Ron Wagner gave for the Quora forum:
“From the technical point of view, yes, the door during the flight could be opened — but considering the altitude and the speed of the plane, you must posses super human strength and grip pull about 6,000 – 8,000 pounds (3,000~4,000 kg). Even while you are taking off, the pressure is about 400~800 pounds, which is also not an easy task.”

Now for sure you should no longer fear the ‘crazed’ passengers, because there is absolutely no way for them to be in condition open the door.
…but is there a chance for the door to open by itself?
