Orion – Next-Generation Hand Tracking For VR
You know what is in common with The Matrix, Tron, Total Recall, Inception? Yes, you’re right! They are all movies, BUT based on the same idea – Virtual Reality. Today, we live at the peak of the technological era, (even tho, I somehow feel that we haven’t even started the coolest inventions yet, like time machines, FTL-space ships, light sabers and Death Stars) and the latest product is the Orion software.
Leap Motion is a motion-control software and hardware company developing the world’s most powerful and sensitive 3-D motion-control and motion-sensing technology. The Leap Motion Controller, lets users navigate and interact with computer applications by translating hand and finger movements into 3D input.
The Orion hand-tracking product is a new generation of gesture control, one that Leap Motion promises is so natural and accurate that you’ll be able to use your fingers inside VR and AR worlds. The technology, was previewed and it worked really well. But it also makes you wish you could use hands, arms, legs, and whole body inside virtual reality. It gives a taste of the things that will come, and it makes it more exciting than ever that we’ll be able to manipulate the things that we see in virtual reality in a way that is accessible for everyone.
At the moment there are several templates for users to experience the VR at its beta capabilities. Well, I guess it’s only a matter of time when we will be able to build our own worlds, and rule them as their rightful Gods.
